After setting up, and being pretty early in the day on Sunday, I start getting ready to climb up to base camp 2 to start my acclimation period for my push to the summit of the dunes tomorrow, on my birthday. As all climbs you have to spend some time acclimating to the thinner air. Mako and I head out in a warm but increasingly windy afternoon.
Nice veins of different rock on the mountains surrounding the valley.
Nearing base camp 2 the winds are howling and we start to get sand blasted.
You can barely see base camp 1 down there, click the picture to enlarge.
