Chilcotin Adventure day 4-Sheep junction PP

Day four we woke up to a so-so day, our plan is to visit Sheep Junction Provincial Park then wander around to find a place to camp.

We got up relatively early, that is to say around eight, did the usual coffee in bed thing for a while .

I did a little walkabout to check the place out, this is a pic from the site next door to us, you can just see a bit of the camper in the trees.

back to the camper and look who shows up again, saw me walking around and swam over, climbed the bank and then stood around again?

We headed inside and waited for that duck to leave,,, gone.

Forestry road heading to Sheep Junction.

There was a cache at the turn off for the park and Les found it!

OK,,, quick description of this park,  nothing in the park itself, no camping, just a 4x4  road out to a very remote area where a large herd of california mountain sheep live, apparently this herd was used to resupply the near extinction of these sheep to other locations,.

It was a very neat drive out, it felt like we were on a safari.

SNAKE!

No sheep yet!

Ok but what the hell are these prints from? I guessed wolf?

We never saw any sheep here, they hide out along the gulleys that flow down to the Fraser river and that is very rugged country. I had never heard of this park but it intrigued me a bit so it was good to go see it, even though it was a long way on a sometimes bad road.

We headed out of the park for our next and hopefully camp destination, Farwell Canyon.
