chilcotan adventure day one

Finally!! Vacation time has arrived and we dont delay in getting as far from the lower mainland as possible as soon as possible, one hour after getting off work we are on the road.....
arriving at Fountain lake around 10;30pm, and soon crash.

I wake up early and go for a stroll, the sun is taking a while getting over the ridge and the dew is thick, a usually quiet rec site is shattered by a pack of young city kids talking loud as hell walking through the site.....at 7;30am!!

and to make it all worse they set up right next to us! crap! we wont be staying here!

We do a slow start with coffee and sit outside for a bit to formulate our next plan when  this duck strolls on up and starts preeening itself.

then about five feet away curls up and has a snooze,  not shy!

We hit the road for our next goal, Little Big Bar Lake rec site,
on the road out from Fountain lake I spot this nice headstone in an indian graveyard, we stop for a quick pic.

Then driving around the next corner we run into a mom and two cubs on the road, the little guys were tumbling and rolling around trying to keep up to mon.

Our route was to be all back roads, forestry routes that run all over the province.

Had to wait a bit to let this guy get his truck onto the track.

Our plan for the trip is to visit the chilcoten area, and our route today parallels the Marble Range.

Nearing the north end of the range we pass a fire fighting camp, big fire along the Fraser River at Big Bar.

Hit the trail that takes us to the rec site......

and arrive at our spot for the next few days, whip up a margarita to celebrate!! yeehaww!!!!!

Day one was a great day, made it to a real nice quiet spot on a beautiful lake, fire and a good dinner and watch the sun set on a good start to vacation!
