Back from salt Spring, and needing a fishing/camping trip, we made our way back to Jones Lake, our close to home stand by location, and maybe Marie and Terry will drop by?
We got up there around seven friday evening, and as expected, all the spots that we passed were taken, except this last one at the far end of the road, it was a dark, gloomy spot that never gets sun, this is where we woke up, this is what it looked like at about noon on Saterday, not so good!
Even Mako was bummed out, but as usual, I roamed around the place talking to some fellow campers, and was chatting with the guy that was in our usual spot, we got along well, nice guy, and about an hour after talking to him, he came over and told us that he will be leaving and we could have our spot back,, yeehaaww.
I helped him load his boat and we promptly moved once he was gone, an added bonus was he left us his fire wood, enough for the weekend,, double yeehaaww!! We had set the prawn trap the night before, so I decided to pull it up early and recharge it.
We had enough for a meal along with some corn on the cob.
This is why we moved, sun and warmth, with a couple of rocks shaped like lounge chairs.
One shot of my new box to replace the old rubbermaid box,, nice!
And this picture should look familiar, almost an exact shot as last years trip.
Our friends Terry and Marie finally showed up in the afternoon, and they got thier lines in the water right away.
While we did a little trolling,
and caught this massive fish, all six inches of him!
The fishing sucked but the views were awesome as usual.
Terry spotted a fishing rod in the lake about seven feet deep and since he cant swim so I dove down and got it for him for a fee. The rod was broken but the reel was brand new, good score.
Sunday was spent hanging around in the sun fishing and swimming, but all good things come to an end, loaded the canoe and headed for home.
stopped on the way for a bottle and can collection at the ever popular beach camping area, and was very surprised how clean it was everywhere, very little trash around, and the campers this weekend were great, a quiet bunch that kept to themselves, a great weekend all together.
