Leaving Baja

Mike's, he had Magic Jack, an internet phone system where we called some people in Canada for free, worked very well, this was our living room in the cassita.

Also got a chance to top up the water tanks, anything going into the truck was passed through a filter with a bit of bleach added while filling, we used that for dishes and showers but for making coffee or ice the water was passed through a two stage water filter and then to another dedicated spigot at the kitchen sink, this method worked well for us.

Also borrowed one of Mike's Suzuki sidekicks and explored a bit, we took one of the arroyos up to the end and found a waterfall, pool and a little sand beach............nice!

We new the time would come where we had to eventually leave, boohoo....

we grudgingly left Mike and Mimi's beautiful place and headed north for La Paz.

My thinking was to go to the ferry terminal to see about the trip across and then head north to some beaches to wait for our boat but at the terminal we had a flurry of activity getting vehicle import permits, photo copies, through a detailed checking at customs to get to the weigh scale, then finally to the TMC company that runs the truck ferry to the mainland where we sorted out the final bit and lo and behold we were on the next boat that was supposed to load around 6PM and leave at 9PM, well it was only 2PM and we sure didnt want to go through the customs again so we parked near the water and waited. It was hard to tell where the boat docked but it turned out to be right next to where we parked and we watched the crazy unloading and loading of the containers by the little tugs, they would drive these 53' trailers backwards up the ramp at crazy speeds then fly out of the ferry and lock all six tires stopping at the boss man getting instructions on the next container.....wild!
We got on almost last and parked on the top deck, popped the top, made dinner and slept for the crossing.

We made it to Mazatlan the day after their big carnival party so there was a pretty good vibe there, only we were needing to get to Rincon so stayed only one night, we left a little late the next day due to having too much fun the night before and made it into Rincon de Guayabitos around five thirty, right in the middle of the rv parks happy hour.

Here we lucked out with a freshly vacated spot on the water side where everyone proceeded to tell us how lucky we were to have the best spot in the park, and yes we like it!

Our view of the local fishermen selling their wares out front of us with the shrimp boat in the background..........

We are staying here for a month so out comes all our stuff to settle down, do some visiting and chillaxing.
